South-east Asia has continued to inspire generations of travelers. Coupled with mystery and ease of connectivity has turned this region into a paradise for backpackers and tourist alike. We have seen several destinations gain prominence over the years; be it Singapore, KL, Langkawi, Penang, etc. You name it. There’s one name which has been out there for sometime now and it has only got louder. Bali is unique in its proposition; up-scale and modern living at the price of a budget hotel. Not to forget the treasure chest of natural beauty that this island destination boasts of.

Bali is truly a beauty and it must be on everyone’s bucket-list to visit this place atleast once. This was my fourth visit and I am sure I will come back for more; there’s just so much to do and experience here. To make things easy, here’s a comprehensive itinerary for a trip to Bali (7D6N) in under ₹25,000.

  • Flights | Bhubaneswar <> Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali (DPS)

(cheapest fare available in December, ex-BBSR. Round trip fares can drop
to INR 8.8K when booked 2-3 months in advance; ex-BBSR or ex-Kochi)

  • Accommodation
    • Airbnb:
Renting out a villa is undoubtedly the best option in Bali. It often comes with better amenities and unique location when compared to hotels. The only caveat being it makes sense to book one when traveling in groups of 8-12 (makes the total cost sensible on twin sharing basis). Here are a couple of choices we made for our trip:
      Villa Amanie (10 Pax) – http://trix.ws/6hndS
      INR 15000, i.e. INR 1500/person/day— Aurora Villa (10 Pax) – http://trix.ws/GaFzk
      INR 22000, i.e. INR 2200/person/day— Villa Shaman (14 Pax) – http://trix.ws/nhM7j
      INR 21500, i.e. INR 1535/person/day
    • Hotels:
There are quite a few hotels in Bali. You have options from all major hoteliers (Hilton, Marriott, SPG, etc.). Prices start from around $20 per night and can go upwards of couple hundred dollars. The average price of a hotel room on twin sharing basis (4 Star & above) is approx. INR 1000/person/day
(please note that it is advisable to make hotel reservations a few weeks in advance as trends suggest hike in rates closer to travel dates.)
  • Sightseeing
The list can go on for long when it comes to points of interests in and around Bali. But here are the top points of interest covered in the itinerary
    • Day 1: Ubud, Bali Swing, Mount Batur & Tirta Empul
This is more or less a full day trip (10 hours) and it starts out early with hotel pick-up (8AM) and drop off.

The highlights of this tour include a visit to the famous Besaikh Temple, scaling the Kintamani to take in spectacular views of the Batur volcano and a visit to the ancient courthouse, Kertha Gosa Pavilion.

    • Day 4: Nusa Penida Island (8 hours)
Nusa Penida is by far the highlight across all my trips to Bali. The island is sheer beauty and its pristine nature and inaccessibility is what makes it so unique. The island is not yet entirely commercialized for the tourists and this means only the most adventurous of folks come visit this place. Read my complete blog post on Bali to discover what the island has in store for you.
      Avg package cost:
IDR 380K/pax (grp of 8) for speedboat roundtrip, i.e. INR 1680/person

    • Day 5-6: Gili Trawangan Island (1 Day)
Gili Trawangan is one of the most famous party islands in the region complete with some of the wildest bars and restaurants. Jiggy Boat Party is one of the most popular party in the island cluster.
